janshree bima yojana (JBY) is a special life insurance scheme ,which was started by JBBY government and life insurance corporation in the year 2000. The main motive of this scheme was to provide coverage to the people living in both urban and rural areas, who are below poverty line.

At present time, coverage is being given to people working in different occupational groups under this scheme. this insurance scheme is made up of two different system:-

  • social security group insurance scheme
  • rural group life insurance scheme.

Benefits of janshree bima yojana

beneficiaries get many benefits in janshree bima yojana such as:-

  • if the insured person dies due to natural causes then an amount of rs.30000/-will be provided to the nominee.
  • if the insured person dies due to an accident or becomes permanently disabled then his nominee is given rs.75000/-
  • if any part of the insured person becomes permanently disabled due to an accident then an amount of rs.37000/-is provided.

Features of janshree bima yojana

  • women self help group:- janshree bima yojana provides special features to womens associated with women self help group. This schemes helps of SHG to provide education to their children .The women member of this group get a cover of rs.30000/- in the form of term insurance, whose annual premium is rs.200/-
  • education support scheme:- This is a social security scheme. under this scheme coverage is given to those children whose parents are the beneficiaries of janshree bima yojana. children get this benefit in the form of scholarship,which students studying in 9th or 10th class are given rs. 600/ in every six months. A part from ,this benefit is also provided to those students who are studying in ITI.By this scheme,coverage is given to a maximum of two children in a family.

How much premium has to be paid in janshree bima yojana ?

The premium for janshree bima yojana is rs.200/- per member.50% of this premium is to be paid by the beneficiaries or the state government/nodal agency, the remaining 50%is taken from the social security fund .

nodal agensies usually includes self help groups (SHG) jury NGOs,and other institutional systems etc.

Eligibility Criteria of janshree bima yojana

If you want to take advantage of JBY,then you must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:-

  • The age of the person should be in between 18 to 59 years.
  • Be associated with a business or bussiness group approved by the nodal agency.
  • Person should be below poverty line or slightly
  • Groups must be atleast 25 members.

How to apply for janshree bima yojana (JBY)

  • By visiting the official website of JBY you can download the forrm.
  • A person can also apply through nodal or SHG or whoever is a member of that group.
  • LIC office is also one way to apply for JBY.
  • A person can also apply by visiting the office of life insurance corporation.

Who can apply for janshree bima yojana?

people working in the following gruops or occupations can get the benefits from JBY:-

  • brick kiln worker
  • cobbler
  • fisherman
  • handicraft artisan
  • tailor
  • dairy producer
  • leather worker.
